Here is how things work between you and the WhizArts team whenever you read, comment, write or get in touch. Using WhizArts means you accept these terms. They go hand in hand with the community code and the privacy policy.

If you’re reading

Reading costs nothing, and you never have to log in. Read away, share links, quote posts the normal way and credit the writer. Each post belongs to the person who wrote it, not to you and not to us, so please don’t republish a whole post without its writer’s say-so.

If you’re commenting

You can comment without ever making an account. Every comment gets reviewed first, and the choice of which ones go live is ours. A comment left unapproved is removed after 30 days. Posting one gives us permission to show it with the post.

If you’re writing

Writing here happens only by invitation; nobody can open a writer account on their own. Each invitation is personal to the writer it was sent to. We choose whom to invite, and we can withdraw a writer’s access if they break these terms or the community code.

Who owns what

Every piece a writer publishes on WhizArts stays that writer’s property. Publishing it gives us permission to host, store, display and distribute it as part of the service, which includes the site’s pages, topic pages and RSS feeds. That permission runs for as long as the piece is published here.

A writer can ask on the contact page for any post, or the whole blog, to be removed.

Who answers for it

Writers answer for what they publish: they must have the right to publish it, it should be accurate, and it has to respect the law and the community code. Commenters answer for their own comments. What posts and comments say is the view of whoever wrote them, not ours.

Feeds

Posts also go out through RSS, with a feed for each writer and one for the entire site. Feed readers and similar tools may fetch those feeds and show them to their users. Following writers through a feed is great; lifting their work from it and republishing it as yours is not.

Play fair

Nothing that the community code rules out is allowed here. Don’t try to knock the site over, crack its security, push automated spam through its forms or get into areas that aren’t meant for you. Don’t hammer it with automated requests, and don’t use it to gather information about other people.

Found a security hole? Please tell us privately on the contact page rather than testing it against the live site.

When we step in

We can take down any post, comment or profile, or close a blog, if we think it breaks these terms, the community code or the law, or puts readers or the site in danger.

If you think something on WhizArts infringes your copyright, open the contact page and choose “Copyright claim”. Send the link to the content, explain what you believe it copies, and tell us how to reach you. We’ll look into the claim and may remove the content.

Doors to other sites

Posts and profiles can link out to websites we don’t run. Those sites, what they publish and how they behave are not our responsibility, and linking to one is not an endorsement.

The fine print

A studio in motion. WhizArts keeps evolving. Features can be added, reshaped or dropped, and all or part of the service can be suspended or shut down whenever we decide.

No warranty. WhizArts is offered “as is” and “as available”, with no warranties of any kind, express or implied. We can’t guarantee that the site will always be up, free of errors or secure, or that its content is accurate or complete.

Limits on liability. As far as the law allows, the WhizArts team is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data, content or opportunities, that comes from using the site or from anything writers or commenters publish.

When these terms get revised

These terms can be revised. Each revision comes with a fresh date at the top of this page, and using WhizArts after that date means you accept the revised version.
