New in the studio
Is there anything to sign up for before I start reading?
Nothing at all. Posts, writer profiles and topic pages are open to everyone, free, with no login standing in the way.
Lots of these posts aren’t in English. Is that on purpose?
Yes. People write here in the language they think in, which for many of our writers is Vietnamese. Menus and buttons are in English; each post is in whatever language its author picked, and accents and diacritics show up properly either way.
Category, topic… what’s the difference?
A category is one writer’s own shelf, like “Recipes” or “Field notes”, and lives on their blog. A topic belongs to the whole site: its page pulls together posts on one subject from every writer who tagged it.
Keeping up
A writer’s work blew me away. How do I catch their next post?
Subscribe by RSS. Each writer’s feed sits at /their-handle/feed.xml, and there is a feed for all of WhizArts at /feed.xml. Drop either one into your feed reader and new posts will turn up by themselves.
Joining the conversation
Where do I write a comment?
At the foot of every post. Fill in a name, write your comment and send. There is no account to make and no email field to fill.
My comment vanished. Did it break?
Not at all. Guest comments wait in a queue until a moderator approves them, which is how spam and unkindness stay out. Check back a little later.
And if a comment is never approved?
It stays out of sight. Once a comment has waited 30 days without approval, it is wiped automatically.
I made a typo in my comment. Can I fix it?
Comments aren’t tied to accounts, so there is no edit button for you. Message us from the contact page with the post link and the name you used, and we will sort it out.
Making things here
I’d love to write here. Where do I sign up?
There is no sign-up form: every writer on WhizArts joins by invitation. Head to the contact page, pick “Writing in the studio” and show us what you make.
If I publish here, is my work still mine?
Completely. You hold the ownership; WhizArts just gets permission to host your work, show it and pass it along through RSS. Our terms put that in writing.
May I point readers to my own site?
Please do. Your profile has a slot for a website link, and links in your posts are plain, ordinary links to anywhere you like, including your sources.
How do I pull a post, or my entire blog?
Tell us on the contact page which posts should go, or that the whole blog should, and we will remove them.
When something feels off
Something here crosses a line. How do I flag it?
On the contact page, pick “Flag a post or comment”, paste the link and add a quick note about the problem. Moderators check every flag against the community code.
Am I being followed around by cookies or analytics?
No. WhizArts gives readers no cookies and runs no analytics, ads or tracking pixels. The privacy policy lists the small amount we do collect, and why.
